GPR was an Iowa non-profit corporation formed from 2008-2012, located in Sioux City, IA. It was organized exclusively for literary and educational purposes to help foster, encourage, and promote an understanding of the history of early radio entertainment broadcasting.
The Great Plains Radio Theatre drew upon the talent of local college and community players to produce live, on-stage performances of early radio theatre broadcasts, as well as disseminating historical information about radio drama by way of educational seminars.
The Great Plains Radio Theatre Project coordinated its activities with public and private schools, colleges and universities, senior centers, retirement facilities, and rural community centers.
The organization’s officers were Ralph Swain, president; Paul Guggenheimer, secretary; and Brian Ross, secretary. Brian Ross was also our GPR digital sound effects technician, Joanne Fox was our GPR publicity coordinator.
